CiA is the international users’ and manufacturers’ group that develops and supports CANopen and other CAN-based higher-layer protocols. The nonprofit group was founded in 1992 to provide CAN-based technical, product and marketing information. Approximately 500 companies are member of the nonprofit group that is headquartered in Erlangen, Germany. More information about CiA is available on their website www.can-cia.org.

To work on the application profile CiA-417 some manufacturers of components founded the SIG Lift and developed the specification, extended it and developed appropriate products.

The spread of information about the application profile CiA-417 is the mission of the MG Lift.
